General Assistance Information
The municipality of Edgecomb administers a General Assistance program for the support of those in need. Pursuant to Title 22 MRSA, Section 4304(1) the municipal officers have adopted an ordinance establishing that program. A copy of the ordinance and pertinent statutes are available for public inspection at the Town Office.
Persons who wish to apply for General Assistance may use the link below, or visit the Town Hall during office hours.
Appointments may also be made by emailing generalassistance@edgecomb.org or calling the Town Hall during office hours at (207) 882-7018.
In an emergency, applicants may contact the Lincoln County Sheriff’s dispatch at (207) 882-7332.
The municipality’s General Assistance administrator must issue a written decision regarding eligibility to all applicants within 24 hours of receiving an application.
The Department of Human Services’ toll free number to call with questions regarding the General Assistance program is 1-800-442-6003.
Copies of the General Assistance Ordinance and relevant State of Maine Statutes are available for reference in the Select Board’s office.
