Code Enforcement Code Enforcement
Introduction
The Code Enforcement Officer (CEO) issues Building Permits for new buildings and additions. The CEO will be able to tell you if you need Planning Board approval for a change of use, commercial, industrial, or institutional use, subdivision, or construction in the shoreland zone. The CEO advises the Planning Board regarding Site Plan Reviews for applications submitted for their approval.
Some information you can gather to help the CEO answer your questions will include your address, the size of your land, and what you wish to do.
The CEO also issues Sign, Blasting, and Shoreland Timber Harvesting Permits. See below for permit application forms.
The CEO is responsible for assuring that Land Use Ordinance regulations are not violated. The CEO will issue written notice to land owners when there is such a violation.
Our CEO is also the town's Plumbing Inspector.
See this Maine DHHS page for answers to many septic system questions, including how to find an existing septic system permit and plan for your address.
