TOWN OF EDGECOMB SCHMID ADVISORY COMMITTEE MINUTES
March 15, 2006, Town Hall
- The meeting was called to order by Chairman Bob Leone at 7 p.m. Committee members present were Andy Abello, Jo Cameron, Bob Leone, Chris Riser and Deborah Sondergaard. Jim Beam and David Tonry were absent. Also present were Janet Blevins and John Markowski. There was no public input.
- Chairman’s Report - Bob Leone
- Review of Meeting Minutes: There were no additions or corrections.
- Next meeting: April 12, 2006 (second Wednesday)
- Selectman’s Report - Jo Cameron
- Budget Update: Approximately $600 remains in the Schmid account.
- Budget Committee Report: The Budget Committee had no problems with the Committee's request for $1,000 for next year.
- Town Report: The report is being prepared and will be submitted to the Selectmen before the end of the month.
- Land Acquisition, Boundaries and Roads - David Tonry
- Church/Lallis Property Updates: Attorneys Logan (BBRLT) and Snyder (Edgecomb) are working on the IRS situation. Most of the Church property has been surveyed and the Edgecomb Selectmen are interested in selling one or two lots.
- Haselton Fund-raising: The First has turned down the Committee's request for a grant. Jo
Cameron will forward to the chairman a list of current grant sources in Maine. Bob Leone
will contact other local businesses for a $2450 matching grant.
- Church Structure Evaluation: The chairman scheduled a visit to the property on March 29 at
5 p.m. to inspect the structure and the roadside boundaries.
- Public Relations and Stewardship - Andy Abello and Deb Sondergaard
- Kiosk Construction: No report
- Outling Club Hike - A hike with eight members of the Wiscasset Outling Club and their two leaders took place on March 12 and ended with roasted marshmallows and cocoa in the Middle Road parking lot. Other events such as skiing or snowshoeing with the Outing Club were discussed as well as the possibility of the members doing community service in the preserve.
- Trails - Jim Beam
- River Link Trail Layout: Steve Hufnagel of the Damariscotta River Association has scouted the properties between the preserve and Dodge Point. He has been asked for the proposed trail location, so the committee can coordinate with the trails in the preserve. Monthly work days will be scheduled after the April meeting to do trail maintenance and to drain the puddles. Andy Abello said a new Midcoast Steward Class is beginning and perhaps they could help.
