TOWN OF EDGECOMB SCHMID ADVISORY COMMITTEE MINUTES
February 15, 2006, Town Hall
- The meeting was called to order by Chairman Bob Leone at 7:05 p.m. Committee members present were Jo Cameron, Bob Leone, Chris Riser and Deborah Sondergaard. Andy Abello, Jim Beam and David Tonry were absent. Also present were Janet Blevins, Barry Hathorne, Hartley Hathorne and Betty Twarog. There was no public input.
- Chairman’s Report - Bob Leone
- Review of Meeting Minutes: Two changes were made: Mr. Lauderback was changed to Ms.
Lauderback and Rupert Neily's name was corrected.
- Next meeting: March 15, 2006
- Selectman’s Report - Jo Cameron
- 2006 Draft budget: Last year's budget was $1,250; this year the request will be for $1,000 with a $50 carryover from last year. The request will cover administration, map and
brochure, kiosk at McKay Road, and annual newsletter.
- Land Acquisition, Boundaries and Roads - David Tonry
- Church/Lallis property update: Surveying is being done at this time and a copy of the
project agreement was given to Rupert Neily. Jo Cameron will locate a copy of the IRS
letter regarding the lien on the property letter so that it can be given to Town Attorney
David Soule. Following a closing, the committee will visit the house on the Church property
to determine its future.
- Haselton fund-raising: Bob Leone has written to Kerry Warren at the First to see if the
bank would be willing to contribute $2,450 in matching funds to pay off the $4,900 loan on
this property
- Adjacent land for sale: Three acres of Richard Tonry's land is for sale for $63,000. This
land is adjacent to the Undas' property, not adjacent to the Schmid Preserve.
- Public Relations and Stewardship - Andy Abello and Deb Sondergaard
- Kiosk construction: Chris Riser has contacted Rob Cronk at Wiscasset High School and the
Light Construction Technology class is interested in building a kiosk for the preserve.
- Outing Club outreach: A snowshoe trip with the Wiscasset Outing Club the previous Sunday
had been cancelled because of bad weather. Bob Leone will try to schedule another trip in
March.
- Trails - Jim Beam
- Full moon hike - February 11: Bob Leone reported that eight people had attended the
moonlight hike. Andy Abello's owl calls had been answered by owls during the walk.
- Other Business
Bob Leone is working on a sign for Old County Road which will say "Schmid Preserve, Winter
Parking."
The chairman will submit to the committee at the next meeting a copy of his report for the
Town's Annual Report.
