    2. Next meeting: April 13, 2004
    3. New Board member: Bob Leone introduced Chris Riser as a new member of the advisory committee.
  3. Selectman’s Report - Jo Cameron
    1. Budget Committee Review: Bob Leone reported that he had submitted a request for $1,000 for the committee's budget of $1,250. The Budget Committee will support the request. Bob Leone brought the Budget Committee up to date on the grant status and mentioned the possibility of soliciting bequests for an endowment fund. Securing 501(C) 3 status was recommended. David Tonry will obtain more information on the tax-free status.
  4. Land Acquisition, Boundaries and Roads - David Tonry
    1. Draft project agreement: Bob Leone reported that Cathy Eichenberg, Department of Conservation, had approved the draft agreement and forwarded it to Attorney Surran Pyne. The attorney has finished the final draft and sent copies to Mark DesMeules, Cathy Eichenberg and Bob Leone for final approval. After signing, the Town Attorney will file the agreement so the $31,796 can be dispersed.
    2. Boundary survey: David Tonry said the boundaries south of Mt. Hunger Road will be marked on a workday to be scheduled at the April meeting. He will have copies of the map/brochure reprinted.
  5. Public Relations and Stewardship - Andy Abello and Deb Sondergaard
    1. Spring Newsletter: Andy Abello distributed a rough draft of the next newsletter which will contain articles on the Management Plan, the Meadow Brook Bridge, and an interview with Veula Reed, 92, whose father lived on the Schmid Preserve, as well as photos. Suggestions for additional articles included information on an endowment fund, an updated steward list and a list of accomplishments.
    2. Town Report: Bob Leone has not completed his report on the Schmid Preserve for the Town Report
    3. Visitor Registers: Bob Leone will install a Tupperware container with a visitors' book in each of the kiosks.
  6. Trails - Jim Beam
    1. Bridge Construction: Andy Abello reported that the planks had been taken from Jim Beam's to the bridge site with the help of Matt Jones' snowmobile and nailed to the stringers. The work will be completed in April or May.
    2. Winter Tree damage/blowdowns: Jim Beam reported that quite a few trees had suffered ice damage and many tops had been snapped off. Bob Leone added that every trail has blockages and stewards will have to clear the trails sometime in May.
  7. Other Business

A USDA Soil and Water Conservation pruning workshop will be held on April 2 at Bailey's Orchard. Fruit-tree and flower order forms have also been received from the USDA. Although the Schmid Committee will not hold a pruning workshop this spring, clearing around the fruit trees will be done. Jim Beam volunteered to lead a work party for this clearing which will allow sunlight to get to the trees.

Dawn Kidd has informed Jo Cameron that she would like to do another appraisal on the Lallas property. Bob Leone will contact Dawn on this matter.

Bob Leone is still getting information on dog-training in the preserve which was brought up at the last meeting.
