The first 2007-2008 Edgecomb Board of Selectmen's meeting chose Jo Cameron as Chair. In other business, a Special Town Meeting will have to be scheduled to address a serious omission in the Roads Department's budget, as well as a few amendments to ordinances. The Selectmen agreed to take the Memorial Day holiday off, and will reconvene on June 4, at 5:00 p.m., later to join the Planning Board and representatives from MDOT's Gateway I Project. As of June 11, Selectmen's meetings will begin at 6:00 p.m.
Our hearts go out to the Chubbuck family for the loss of Thelma Chubbuck, mother, grandmother, and if I may say so, matriarch of a well-known Edgecomb family. Let us also salute the passing of Geraldine Hersom, a daughter of Edgecomb's Lamson family. Our deep condolences to her family.

Among those in the picture of Wiscasset Middle School's Students of the Month of May, I recognized Nate Blackford, my next door neighbor. Well done, Nate. If I have overlooked other Edgecomb honorees, you have only to phone me or e-mail me at the contact information below.
Hurrah for Lena Rich for her award at the recent statewide Young Composers Contest, sponsored by the Bagaduce Music Lending Library in Blue Hill! Lena's original piece for piano, violin, harp, dulcimer and flute is called "Lilies of the Field.." A third-grader at Edgecomb Eddy School, Lena won third place in the under-14 age category. My ear perked for Edgecomb's hills to resound with Lena's music! At 234 River Road, 633-2978, jocam@midcoast.com. This column appears in several local papers, and at www.Edgecomb.org.
