It's always fun to go through attics! Today, the Edgecomb Historical Society will throw open the doors of its cache in the back of the Edgecomb Eddy School library, and rummage through it to see what we've got. An effort will begin to catalogue it. We will gather at 2:00 p.m. in the school's conference room for the business meeting and then proceed to the library and plunge in. You are welcome to join us! The history is stellar and the camaraderie is warm!

"Everybody Loves Pirates!" This Friday, March 23rd, the Edgecomb Eddy School Parent Teacher Club is holding its annual spaghetti supper, along with a puppet show and Scholastic Book Fair. Spaghetti will be served from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., tickets $6.50 for adults, $3.50 for kids 8th grade and below, free for ages 3 and under. Purchase of each supper ticket includes admission to the puppet show "Everybody Loves Pirates," presented by the Frogtown Mountain Puppeteers of Bar Harbor. It starts at 6:45 p.m.; tickets for the show only are $2.50 per person. Shopping hours for the Scholastic Book Fair are 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Everyone in the community is invited to join us for this evening of community spirit and affordable family fun!

Edgecomb Eddy teacher Robin McCready will set forth in April to the Mystery Writers Guild award ceremony in New York City. Her novel "Buried" has been nominated for an Edgar award by the Mystery Writers Guild. "Buried" is up against four other nominees, but Robin is the only First Book author. We wish her and her book well!

Meanwhile, Lea Wait has been on the speakers' circuit with presentations at Nobleboro schools last month. Her newest in the Historic Wiscasset juvenile series will be set during the Civil War.

Welcome the baby animals at Morris Farm's Spring-Fest, Saturday, April 7! You and the kids can do Easter egg dyeing, learn about sheep shearing, carding and spinning, yarn dyeing and more, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Call Morris Farm, 882.4080 or www.morrisfarm.org for fees, information, etc.

Many thanks to Roger Bintliff for his donation to the Edgecomb Eddy School and its newly formed band! He has made the same kind of commitment for Lincoln Academy's 2007 Project Graduation. With the funds, the L.A. Seniors plan a whitewater rafting trip in June.

Speaking of Lincoln, their Drama group's one-act "Oedipus Rex" has won top honors at the Regional One Act Festival and has entered the Class A School State Competition. The winner of that level will go on to the New England One Act Festival in April. Edgecomb's Jasper Nutt is on the light crew for this production. It's nice to be able to give a back-stager a round of applause!

And speaking of drama, when I mentioned Bernadette Lombardo last week in the Moxie Youth Players' production of "The Hobbit," I omitted sibling Vinnie. My apologies.

Congratulations, Ralph Lombardi, who was recently honored by the Lincoln County Board of Realtors! Mr. Lombardi is currently serving on Edgecomb's new Utilities Committee , and his extensive expertise is truly valued.

All our sympathies go to Jeff Cusumano, his mother and brothers, on the passing of his father Joseph.

Amanda Boucher has been accepted at Concord Academy in Concord, Mass. for her high school years. Kate Riser is on the Dean's List at Bates College in Lewiston.

And from Meredith College in Raleigh NC comes a postal card inviting us all to an exhibit in their art gallery, "Watermarks" by Gayle Fraas and Duncan Slade! The show goes through April 15, so anyone on a junket to Raleigh, go take a look!

Wonderful portrait of an Edgecomb barn in last Sunday's Telegram! My compliments to staff photographer John Ewing. I'm not well enough acquainted with the back sides of properties to be able to identify the barn myself, but surely others can!

Watching the snow pile up on the roof of my own barn at 234 River Road, 633-2978, bonesukl@midcoast.com. This column appears in several local papers, and at www.Edgecomb.org.
