Gone with the kohlrabi! Not a seedling remains of my mighty row of aspiring vegetable. Curse you, porcupine or chipmunk, whoever! What would happen if I planted marigolds among my next planting attempt? Think that would deter the critters?
Amanda Boucher will be shoving off for the UK shortly, England, Wales and Ireland, armed with an Edgecomb Fire Department badge to present to her Irish host town's Fire Department. Take plenty of pictures, Amanda! Amanda, to review, is in the People to People Student Ambassador Program founded by President Eisenhower.

Happy Birthday, Frank Perkins on the River Road, who tells me he was the last kid born in the old Boothbay area hospital before the new St. Andrews opened up. Spouse Bruce was born in the nurses' quarters before Miles Memorial was ready. Me, I was born at home in Delhi, NY, with a midwife, yet! And rushed to a hospital in Cooperstown, better known as the home of Baseball's Hall of Fame. Anyone out there have some good birth stories?
The Fort Edgecomb Bicentennial Committee wants to thank all those who have contributed to our latest "Call to Arms!" And particularly to those responding in memory of Mellie Giles.
Wiscasset H.S. 4th quarter Honor Roll lists the following Edgecomb students, so far as I can tell: Senior Highest honors, Kate Riser; Senior High honors, Jennifer Cusumano, Leah Lemont; Sophomore High honors, Hannah Margaret Sieracki; Freshman Honors to Dotti Cost and Samantha Hersom. And Ruth Langton is on the Dean's List at Colby College! She is majoring in Biology. Splendid job, all! And for those I've missed, remember, "Living well is the best revenge."
