Following the Annual Meeting of the North Edgecomb Cemetery Fund Association on Saturday, May 14, at 10:00 a.m. in the Town Hall, able-bodied people will be furnished with a rubbish bag and encouraged to tour the cemetery, picking up faded decorations and looking for winter damage. You don't need to own a lot there to take part in the clean-up. Everyone is welcome! Those unable to join the tour will be encouraged to prepare the turkey dinner (which may or may not follow – depending on the response.) For more information, call anyone except Ruth Bryant, 882-5510. (Honest, guys, that's what Ruth's text says! Not a typo!)

This Saturday, May 14, come to the Wiscasset Municipal Building, to enjoy the Garden Club of Wiscasset's Annual Plant Sale! Funds raised by this event are applied to the GCW's scholarship program. Friday afternoon is set-up time, so bring any last minute donations of perennials, small trees or shrubs to the muni. or call Sandy Sarmanian at 882-7276.

On your way, the same day, stop by the Edgecomb Eddy School around 8:00 a.m. for a boffo Pancake Breakfast, and browse the Parent Teacher Club's annual Yard Sale! Lots of variety, lots of bargains, lots of fun! Runs through noon.

Nathalie Gorey on the River Road has alerted me to an issue which may concern you: a rumor that Wal-Mart's is planning a store in Damariscotta. Petitions against this are being circulated via Serendipity Fine Gifts and The Green Store, both located on D'scotta's Main Street.

Heads up for this year's Town Meeting and Election! The polls will open Friday, May 20, at the Town Hall at 10:00 a.m., close at 8:00 p.m. There are three contested positions this year: Jo Cameron and Stuart Smith for Selectman, Scott Griffin and Dabney Lewis for Road Commissioner, David Boucher and Charles Goodrich, Jr. for Planning Board member.

Town Meeting will be held Saturday, May 21, in the Edgecomb Eddy School gymnasium, starting at 10:00 a.m. and ending, probably, around 2:00 p.m., depending on how controversial we all are! Come one, come all, and participate in the last bastion of direct democracy in America! Is the Town aware that the Town is Edgecomb's government? This means you!
