Our greatest sympathies to Claudia Coffin and her family for the loss of Stan who died of cancer last week. A memorial service was held at the Edgecomb Town Hall yesterday.

Maureen "Tex" Blake has been the custodian for the Edgecomb Town Hall for the past several years. This is her last week of such work before she departs to enroll in the Saint Andrew's Village program toward a Certified Nursing Assistant license, with her ultimate aim to become a Certified Medical Technician! You go for it, Tex! Let's hear it for the Non-Trads!

Lea Wait, over on the Eddy Road, is up from her computer and off on the book-signing circuit! Two titles have just been released, her third juvenile (for older readers), "Wintering Well," and her third Antiques Prints mystery, "Shadows on the Ivy." She will be in Damariscotta next Friday, Sept. 3, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and at the Wiscasset Library on Saturday, Sept. 11. You can check up on Lea's doings at her website, www.leawait.com!

Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m., Sept. 1, the Friends of Fort Edgecomb will hold their regular monthly meeting in the lobby of the Sheepscot River Inn. Members are urged to bring their ideas for celebrating Fort Edgecomb's Bicentennial!

The following Wednesday, Sept. 8, the Fort Edgecomb Bicentennial Committee will meet at my house at 7:00 p.m. to knock around our ideas and plan some strategies for bringing them about.
