Three cheers to Julie Rollins, home and working for the summer, already the Lincoln Home's Employee of the Month for July! And three more cheers for her mother, Jean Dostie on the Middle Road, who was their Employee of the Month for June! Jean in June and Julie in July! Seems fair to me! And hurrah for the Lincoln Home itself, on the occasion of its 75th Anniversary!

Now hear this: The Town of Edgecomb is exploring the desirability of creating a Tax Increment Financed (TIF) District to include the Sheepscot River Inn property and its property across the Eddy Road. A number of public information meetings have been scheduled, the first to meet on Tuesday, July 20, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Edgecomb Town Hall. The Board of Selectmen urge you to attend, as everyone needs to know how TIFs will affect our tax structure, major construction projects, and the like. The second of these meetings is scheduled for August 12, with a Special Town Meeting on August 28.

Keep your eye on late-breaking news about the proposed Coastal Community College for the Boothbay Peninsula area. The Coastal College Development Board is considering the possibilities of maritime-related courses of study, from marine biology and coastal ecology to boat building and marine engine repairs. Edgecomb has been asked to participate in its planning.

Fort Edgecomb Bicentennial: E-mails have gone out, and now the general call: The Planning Committee is being formed. Ideas are being sought: Frivolities appropriate for the Federal period of U.S. history, that is, roughly 1780 through 1830. Call, e-mail, take quill in hand, or drop by and visit me with your suggestions! Thanks to Susie Stephenson, Margot Sieracki-Stiassni, Lea Wait, Nick Dean, Matt and Laurel Dunn and Fred and Beth Maitland for your input to date!

Breathlessly awaiting more, you will find me at 234 River Road, 633-2978, bonesukl@midcoast.com. This column appears in several local papers, and at www.Edgecomb.org.
