Hoo boy! There's something fishy in the Town of Edgecomb. Late last Wednesday a truck lost its load at the bottom of Page's
Hill on the River Road, and the load was . . . pogies! The Edgecomb Fire Department succeeded in hosing the roadway clear,
sweeping the baitfish to the sides of the road, for the State DOT to haul off. Meanwhile, if you spot a parade of raccoons
heading toward the Merry Island Road, you'll know why!

Leonid meteor showers are due the mornings of Nov. 18 and 19. For details, call or e-mail the Central Maine Astronomy
Society: Max Arnold 586.5111, Colin Cassie 549.3338 or the CMAS's website,

Young James Brown, my River Road neighbor, stopped by to leave off the Boy Scout popcorn we'd ordered and forgotten
about. He is in his third year with Pack 201, and involved also in local 4-H activities. Last week his pack hiked around Dodge
Point in the pouring rain!
His mother Evelin is just winding up her first Nursing Clinical semester at Bodwell's, a facility, once part of the old Midcoast
Hospital in Brunswick, that handles patients requiring longer stays for rehabilitation and convalescence. Next semester she
will transfer to Brunswick's Parkview Hospital, and 12-hour shifts!
If you have read all the way to the end of this column, you may have noted that it is available at
www.Edgecomb.org. BUT ... the webmaster, Stuart Smith of Seguin Software, has
included much more on this website to interest the residents of Edgecomb and those curious about the town. Besides the
Edgecomb Column, which has an archive of its last two years, you will find minutes of the Selectmen's Meetings, the
Planning Board, and the Schmid Preserve Committee.
In addition, the website brings you items about our town that make it our town. Are you following the Bypass question?
There is a great map of the proposed routes. When I say "great," remember, it's 2.5 megabytes, so it takes a while to
download. Once you've got it, it provides the several route options (including a couple which are no longer on the table),
natural features such as the large deer yard on Clark's Point, and details of both Wiscasset's and Edgecomb's property lines
in the concerned area.
Do you follow the issue of urban and suburban sprawl and wonder how it all affects Edgecomb? Take a look at the series of
nine GIS political and environmental maps of the town available on the site. A Google search engine is provided for exploring
specific topics, i.e., the word "bypass" appears 29 times in the accumulated Edgecomb columns!
Are you curious about our ordinances? A number of the most important Town ordinances is provided, as well as checklists
for various permit applications. Want to contact committees and officials? Their e-mail addresses are available. Give
www.Edgecomb.org a look! There is much that will be of interest to you, perhaps
of vital interest.
