Tennis, anyone? Now that the summer is starting to really feel like summer,
if you feel like working up a sweat, remember the Sheepscot River Inn's small
court. Manager Tamara Lilly-Crawford has extended an invitation to Edgecomb
dwellers to make use of it, remembering, of course, that guests at the Inn
take precedence. However, the court has always been under-used. Just call
before coming and check in at the Inn's front desk before starting to play.
They will have rackets and balls available, to borrow, as well.
Have you noticed the paperback book exchange box on the downstairs table in
the Town Hall? People are encouraged to take a book, but please, replace it
with another one! Mysteries are always appreciated.
Edgecomb in the News: Herman Wright II of Englebrekt Road has been elected
the American Legion Department Commander for the State of Maine for
2003-2004. He has chosen the Children's Miracle Network as his commander's
project, and hopes to raise $10,000 in support of it. The organization
supports a wide array of children's programs. Mr. Wright is supervisor of
welding at BIW, a 35-year employee.
Belated congratulations to Edgecomb's Wiscasset secondary school honors and
prize students, "as many as the leaves on the trees," thus impossible to list
you all here. Of special interest: One of only ten Princeton University
Book Prizes awarded in the State of Maine went to Lindsay Leone, a Junior,
while Forrest Carver, a Sophomore, took a U.S. Academic Decathlon Award.
(Broad hint: Anyone, student or parent of student, wanting a brief brag
opportunity, call me! See below.)
Have a great 4th of July! As will I at 234 River Road, 633-2978,
bonesukl@midcoast.com. This column appears in The Boothbay Register, The
Lincoln County News, The Wiscasset Newspaper, and at www.Edgecomb.org.
