Let us commiserate
with the Friends of Fort Edgecomb. Beth Maitland's beautiful quilt,
destined to be the raffle prize for the Friends' annual fundraiser,
was stolen from its booth at the Cumberland Fair, apparently by
someone under the impression that the Edgecomb blockhouse was Fort
Sumter in Charleston. We can only hope the quilt will be returned
some day.
Welcome to the
Eddy School's two new teachers this year, Terry Morrison, teaching
the third grade, and Kate Hossler, Special Education Behavioral
Teacher. They were introduced at the Edgecomb School Board meeting
last Tuesday, Oct. 1.
Our thanks to
the Boothbay Recycling and Refuse Disposal Center for accepting
our turned-in mercury thermometer and computer card! A good beginning
to the "Mercury and More" collection campaign by Lincoln County's
Recycling (LCR) Department. This month, through October 23, bring
your mercury-containing discarded equipment and materials to the
BRRDD transfer station, for collection by LCR; or bring them on
Saturday, Oct. 26 to the LCR facility on Huntoon Hill Road. Such
equipment and materials include, besides fever thermometers and
computer cards: Fluorescent light bulbs, barometers and other scientific
instruments containing mercury, electrical switches and relays,
mercury-containing thermostats, computer monitors, television cathode
tubes, PCB-containing lighting ballasts and the like. If you are
not sure, or have other questions, call LCR at 882-5276, Mondays
8 am to 1 pm, Thursdays and Fridays 8 to 10 am.
Enjoying October's
bright blue weather at 234 River Road, 633-2978, bonesukl@midcoast.com.
