TOWN OF EDGECOMB MINUTES OF THE SELECTMEN'S MEETING
January 15, 2007; 5:00 P.M.

Attended: Frank Perkins, Jr., Jo Cameron, Stuart Smith; Roger Bintliff, Edgecomb Development LLC

MINUTES of January 8, 2007 were approved with amendments.

  1. CORRESPONDENCE:
    1. MMA Risk Management, new blanket accident coverage for volunteer firefighters and emergency workers: referred to Fire Chief. It should be determined if payment for this coverage is to be included in the Fire Department Budget or included in the Town's general policy.
  1. OLD BUSINESS:
    1. Town Hall mailbox: Frank is building a new wooden mailbox.
    2. Letter to new Wiscasset Town Manager: Jo distributed a first draft of this letter for review
    3. Utilities Committee meeting, Tuesday, Jan. 16 at 6:30 p.m.: Frank said that Steve Levy, prospective consultant, would be attending it.
  2. NEW BUSINESS:
    1. Snowplowing: It was observed that although the state aid and other roads have been plowed, the sanding/salting seems to be inadequate. The Road Commissioner and Fire Chief will be notified about the Selectmen's concern.
    2. 2007 Town Meeting: It was proposed and agreed to invite Budget Committee chair Rick Elder to the next Selectmen's meeting to start scheduling Budget meetings with the several Town departments.
  3. OTHER BUSINESS:
    1. Bintliff signage: Roger Bintliff presented scanned pictures of signs he proposes to replace existing signs advertising the Ocean Grill and Sheepscot Village Resort. The dimensions of all combined new signs will not exceed the dimensions of the current signs, which conform to Edgecomb's Sign Ordinance.

One sign, an oval saying "Welcome to Davis Island, Edgecomb, Maine," Roger offered to the Town in exchange for extending him its equivalent square footage for additional signage. He proposed to place it on the new deck roof directly under the Bintliff's Ocean Grill sign. Stuart thought it should be located away from the restaurant building to avoid the appearance of a conflict. This offer will be considered again at a future Selectmen's meeting.

Roger also said he had removed the 12x120-foot mural of herons, etc., but that it was available for anyone interested in having it.

  4. WARRANT:

    #17 = $133, 781.61

  5. EXECUTIVE SESSION: None.
  6. ADJOURNMENT: Adjourned at 5:50 p.m .
