2. NEW BUSINESS:
a. Snow plowing:
The performance of the new contractor was reviewed in the wake of the
last big storm, several problems noted. Fire Chief Johnston requested
that the Fire Station be the first or second site to be plowed, after
the School when it is open. The Fire Department had significant delay
getting to a severe fire on Rte. 1.
Other complaints regard the width of the plowed roadways, often 4 to
5 feet narrower than it should be, as well as difficulty reaching mailboxes.
Chief Johnston reported that a Dead River fuel delivery truck had great
trouble going up Mill Road from the bridge to Rte. 27, which, if it
had been unsuccessful, might have resulted in serious water pollution.
Rodd has been speaking with the contractor about this.
