December 2, 2002
Attended: Rodd Hopper, Bob Zak
1. MINUTES
CORRESPONDENCE:
a. Letter from Workers' Comp. stating that a settlement has been reached
between
the Town and Joan Hale. This claim has been ongoing since June 23, 1998.
b. Letter from Healthy Kids, explaining their services; noted
c. Planning Board minutes: noted and filed
2. OLD BUSINESS:
a. River Link proposal: Letter supporting the SVCA and other land trusts
in the
acquisition of property for this project: written, signed, sent
b. Superintendent of Schools notified by phone of the unanimous vote by
the
selectmen to use any money received by the Town from the sale of the Eddy
School to reduce the debt service on the new school.
c. The transition of Boothbay Harbor CEO Dabney Lewis into a temporary
position
as CEO for Edgecomb during Howard Smith's 3-month absence has been
implemented. Method of payment was discussed; it will be on a monthly
basis.
3. NEW BUSINESS:
a. Malcolm Beam and Sharon Dowd discussed the status of the "Somes
Road"
which at one time was a Town road. There does not seem to be any record
of this
road being entirely discontinued. However, a portion of this road was
discontinued, which is in the Town records as being voted upon at a Town
Meeting. It appears that the remainder of the road has been abandoned
by the
Town. The last known work on the remaining segment of Somes Road was in
the
1960s.
b. Bill Smith has declined an appointment to the Schmid Preserve Committee
and
recommends that Jim Cunningham be appointed. The Selectmen will discuss
this
at their next meeting.
4. OTHER BUSINESS: none
5. WARRANT: none
6. EXECUTIVE SESSION: none
7. ADJOURNMENT: Adjourned at 5:30 p.m. to join the Planning Board meeting.
